Education amid miserable conditions

It was a time when foot naked children with a bag made of old clothes in their hands ran to school which was at that time an old ruined building and was far away from their homes. When they reached there their hearts beat faster and faster and it seemed as it was coming out of the chest. Because of the cold weather their cheeks and nose were red but they didn’t seem to be cold. With a smile in their face they stopped in front of the old gate of the so-called school. They entered quietly into the ice classes which began to melt by their voices and laughter.
Inside the classes there were counterfeit desks, broken windows, an old blackboard on which the marks of time were visible and in the head of the class it stand proudly the awry desk for the teacher.
This is a short view about the school conditions during the most difficult periods of our history when poverty had grasped every part of Albania.
Decades when these moments are incused seem to be very distant. Today, we say that we are living in another reality. Today our children are educated amid optimal conditions. They are being taught by using modern methods and nowadays they are introduced to the fastest way of information that is Internet. On the other hand the school surrounding is very agreeable and host for the children to give them the possibility to be concentrated on their studies.
Our country is overwhelmed by big changes. In every part of Albania the business and building construction has prospered a lot. But surprisingly, if compared to the up building of five stars hotels or other business constructions the level school building is very low. The changes in this aspect have affected only the cities or their suburbs but in the other parts, far away from the center we face with a different reality.
Byres turned into classes or abandoned buildings used as schools… these are not unknown fact for us. Pupils tired of these miserable conditions continue to be part of the lesson process. They try hard to concentrate on the lesson which their teacher explains. The reality in which these pupils live is different from the one their teens in the cities live in.
Our country, Albania, continue to be amid big social paradoxes. Realities differ from one region to another. The difficult and miserable condition in which the teaching process is performed is an indicator that to this vital important sector is given very a few importance. Apart from the bad conditions, one of the reasons that parents dislodge their children from the schools is the long distance. Thus, it means that the number of schools is not enough to supply the education needs of our children. It is a fatality that the knowledge household is the motive of illiteracy, the motive of new generation moving away from the light of erudition. This, apart from being a personal infelicity, it is a national misfortune at the same time. Amid the individuals of the new generation there will be persons unable to fulfill the demands of the time and this will come as a result of their educational gap.
n every moment of the human history seeking knowledge has been considered as a priority and a high duty at the same time. Knowledge is the most important weapon that we as human beings possess. A man who possesses knowledge of any kind or any field is more valuable to himself and to the society than another one who does not possess that knowledge.
Thus,in conclusion we can say that the main important duty for us and those instances responsible for the education is the immediate improvement of the schools’ conditions and the further development of the educational institutions. This is a duty we owe to our children and if we began to take care of this duty, it will have immediate effects on the development of our society and on our life quality as well. The changes done to improve the education process are changes that will result in a better future.
Let us together stop the illiteracy, the school abandoning phenomena and let it be an era of schooling and knowledge.
